Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen, who may be one of the most transparent GM executives we’ve seen in a long time, will take center stage at the 2017 World Congress, according to Automotive News.
The executive has been adamant in charting a new course for Cadillac through product, marketing and especially his Project Pinnacle dealership program, which continues to receive backlash to this day.
When we use the word “transparent” to describe the Cadillac chief, it’s because he is. de Nysschen has previously taken to respond personally to rumors, misinformation and more, most recently in clarifying the brand will debut a flagship vehicle in the future and continued on to spell out Cadillac’s overall product roadmap.
de Nysschen will be joined by a handful of other automotive executives this coming January.
And I don’t think that keeping Germans awake is the objective. Cadillac produces vehicles that are different from German makes and Japanese for that matter. Indeed, every manufacturer does. Each manufacturer has it’s own culture that is, in most cases, honed over decades of product evolution and innovation. Cadillac has had its share of innovations to be sure and Mercedes has as well, but each produce vehicles with a specific character. Most automotive magazines are enthusiast directed. Most purchasers of vehicles though do not seek to enter F1 every time they back out of the garage. High performance is fine, but adequate performance is the range most drivers will operate in.
We can all purchase whatever we like. Those who prefer German engineering can go there. Those who don’t, can purchase something else. But I would point out that the United States has subsidized Germany, Japan and South Korea for decades and ensured their security as well at tremendous cost to America and Americans. All three companies were rebuilt after WWII and the Korean War. Wonder if any of the three would have done that for us if they had won and to what extent does unfair trade policies (to the U.S.) impact on the export of American vehicles abroad? If you are going to philosophize about the superiority of German, Japanese or Korean vehicles, then it may help to understand how American has essentially supported all three nations with little or no return to this country all the while. Very little occurs in a vacuum.
CT3, CT2 on alpha chassis RWD/AWD. Flagship going to be on omega chassis RWD/AWD. Do know why you think Cadillac is build all FWD car’s.
Cadillac has new engines coming there way, that of there own. Plus electric drivetrains. Names going to change to, ATS=CT3, smaller=CT2. XTS livery use(funeral cars etc). Still going to have a short life. Crossover’s one on alpha, on omega chassis’s.
I rather Cadillacs future flagship will be a CUV/SUV rather than a sedan/coupe.
Your truly one of the only people that think that. Cadillac has the Escalade, why do they need a ultra luxo SUV model above it when the Escalade is doing just fine on its own. I think you will be disappointed when the flagship ends up being very similar to the recent Escala concept. I do think by the end of next decade there will be a ultra luxury SUV. But I don’t believe it will come first.
I sure hope Caddys future flagship won’t be a four door coupe.
