We Render The Cadillac Escala Convertible

The Cadillac Escala Concept was quite a hit when it was unveiled last month at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. And though it was relatively well-received, something told us that the design language would also look dignified in a different body style… one that, perhaps, has two fewer doors and no roof. So we tasked our crack rendering artist to make an Escala Convertible.

All in all, our resulting Escala Convertible renderings have a very sexy, elegant, debonair appearance that makes it almost too irresistible, and we’re sure some of you will like it more than the original fastback-style sedan concept. There’s also something very Elmiraj-like about it, though we can’t quite figure out what it is.

So, Escala Convertible — yay, or nay? Hit us up in the comments.

      Cadillac, just do it.
I’ll find the money somewhere to buy one.

  2. Yay from me.
I really think this would have worked better( not that the real one has bad styling our anything) because with a convertible you can see the interior better which is one thing that I think is a highlight. However they already did a convertible and coupe so they had to do a sedan. Once again to the artists at GMA who do these: Fantastic job!

  3. The Cadillac Escala convertible has classic elegant lines that would ensure the car being an American classic from day one if Cadillac decides to bring the car to production.

  4. It’s just okay; Elmiraj-like it’s not.

  5. This render has made me realize something. The biggest problem with the Escala’s design was the liftback body style. The design language really works as a convertible. The car kind of reminds me of the Rolls Royce Dawn. GMA, you have just rendered the Cadillac of my dreams!

  8. Mega Yay from me. Right now the hot-rod builders from the SEMA crowd are drooling at the chance to put one of these rag-tops on the road. You can almost hear the scratching of pen to paper as they plead with GM to build it for real.

  10. Beautiful vehicle…now…if you just wouldn’t need a mortgage company to be able to get one.

  13. Looks good with the top up or down . For people that don’t have a mortgage this would be a hot seller . It’s been a long time since you’ve heard the word ” elegant ” describing a Cadillac .
I could even see a white top w/ a white leather interior for the folks that live on the west coast or down south . The older retirees living there would love to cruise around in this .
Come on Cadillac ….. you did the Eldo like that .

    1. The last two sentences just killed it. Cadillac is wondering if they should build it. But what Cadillac does not want is to be associated with retirees, especially “older” ones. And the Eldo, while a beautiful specimen, is the design style they desperately want to eradicate from everyone’s memory. So if this car never sees production, you are one to whom eveyone who loves it can and needs to say, “Thank you for killing this great American dream.”

  15. Nice. See this is what we mean when we say Cadillac needs to go to it’s roots. Big, Stylish, Dynamic, High Quality, and DESIRABLE. This is a Cadillac. All Cadillacs do not need to be land yachts, but there should at least be one car that is or attempts to be second to no one in styling, presence, performance, and execution.

That is what Cadillac is currently lacking. That’s what’s keeping them 2nd string.

  16. Nice rendering job by your GM Authority artist Alex. And I like the idea of the convertible being a bigger car with a real back seat, instead of the small two-seater XLR, which was Cadillac’s most recent convertible (and based on the Corvette Stingray platform). Though I did like the XLR’s idea of a retractable hardtop (the top just looked too small to me, at least in pictures), so I’d want any Cadillac convertible to offer that, if possible.

  20. This Cadillac Escala convertible looks splendid as rendered. Cadillac should build it. I imagine it as a natural rival to the Mercedes S-Class and BMW 6-series convertibles. And, if Cadillac can build this–as indeed it should–then it should have no problems building and finding a market for a flagship sedan–called Escala, perhaps, instead of CT8, which we have been told is dead. It shouldn’t be dead, though. One way or another, this gorgeous convertible and flagship sedan stablemate deserve a long life in the luxury marketplace. So, how about it, Cadillac?

  21. This convertible rendering looks far sexier than the original Cadillac concept.
Cadillac produces mechanical wonders, but lags with design. Mark Ruess is determined to keep design “American” even though in 2016 there is no American or Korean or, for that matter, Italian design ethos anymore. Global design with German influences it’s the current trend with all successful automakers, even iconic brands like Jaguar, sharing designers and executives.

  22. Absolutely !! GM and Cadillac need a halo luxury car and NOTHING says American luxury like a full sized classy convertible. And this one ROCKS like crazy. This is way too nice to remain a concept guys. Build it and gain some instant credibllity Caddy.

  23. A truly American icon. We need this back here, it’s totally Cadillac’s heritage. GM… please, please, please do it!!!!

  24. Great rendition. I don’t believe a modern luxury maker is complete without a convertible. I went to BMW because they understand what we want. Simple, stylish and options. This would look much better in my garage than a foreign manufacturer.

  25. I’m BEGGING you, GM, please build this car! Gorgeous is a word that just doesn’t describe this car! Right now and or the last 30 + years, I’ve showing Cadillacs and Corvettes, current editions, not the older ones. From my experience, I would be proud to show this car in ANY car show starting tomorrow if I had one! If you build this, I will buy it!!!
Ps. please offer more color choices like Corvette does instead of just 5 or maybe 6 colors and a white or eggshell or light, light grey interior.
    Thanks for listening,

  26. First time I have seen this as a coup Convertible, Excellent ! If they do it in 2021 like they are planning I will have to trade in my 2016 Cadillac for this one as it’s awesome !!!
