Having the ability to flip between a traditional rearview mirror and a rear camera in the 2016 Cadillac CT6 offers immense benefits to the driver. But, how exactly does it work?
Thankfully, Cadillac has detailed the technology in this information video. Not to mention, we want this gentleman to narrate everything we do for the rest of our lives.
By flipping the mirror away, the driver activates the rear camera mirror, which offers an unobstructed view of what’s behind the vehicle. No longer are passengers, luggage or blind spots part of the issue. The cameras, located at the rear underneath the Cadillac crest, have been specially developed to withstand rain, snow and glare.
Cadillac says the rear camera mirror increases visibility by 300 percent in the rear over a traditional rearview mirror, and the technology’s next stop will be in the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV.

Great. but where its really needed is the Camaro!
Put it on every GM vehicle immediately.
you can actually get a similar type of system for any car, it’s called the ICU Car Camera, developed in 2014. It can be installed on top of your vehicle’s roof or trunk, or even inside your rear window. The roof mounted Camera looks just like a Shark Fin Antenna and you can also get them with or without an XM Antenna. I love it and have it on all 3 of my vehicles, 2004 Cadillac CTS Sedan, 2007 Caddillac Escalade ESV, and 2012 Cadillac CTS Coupe. I test drove a new CTS with the Cadillac rear view camera and I have to say I prefer the ICU Car Cam System because it is on top of the car which gives you the best possible view of traffic and blind spots.
