Buick U.S. Sales Fall 2.71 Percent To 21,678 Units In August 2016

Sales of GM’s premium vehicle brand, Buick, decreased in the United States and increased in Canada in August 2016.

Buick Sales – August 2016 – United States

In the U.S., Buick sales decreased 2.71 percent to 21,678 units.

August 2016 retail sales were down 12.4 percent, or 2,428 units, year-over-year to 17,124 units, representing 79 percent of total Buick sales for August 2016. That compares to 19,552 retail sales in August 2015, which represented 87.8 percent of total Buick sales.

Fleet sales were up 66.9 percent, or 1,825 units, year-over-year to 4,554 units, representing 21 percent of total Buick sales for the month. That compares to 2,729 fleet sales in August 2015, which represented 12.2 percent of total Buick sales.

Despite GM’s continued focus on more profitable retail sales, the jump in Buick fleet sales was not enough to carry overall Buick sales volume into the green for August.

  2. Buick has an aging line up that needs dumping. I’m glad that GM invested the resources and didn’t pull a Fiat Sergio but too much unwanted Buick inventory litters lots.

  3. August sales are usually down because of new model change overs and for some models it can be limited product .
Consumers are much more savvy than before . They can just jump on the internet to see if the model they are thinking of buying is coming out in the fall with a refresh or a completely new model . You can see that in some of Buick’s decreases .
Buick must be happy that their small cars are selling in this market . June sales were down , July’s were up and August down slightly and July was over 10% so coming off a record 2015 Buick is on track to have a good year . To continue keeping the lights on they have to continue to revamp the portfolio , a halo car would do wonders for them .
