Buick Produces The 500,000th Excelle GT In China

The Buick Excelle has a long history in the Chinese market, and the brand has reached a milestone in the nameplate. Buick announced the 500,000th Excelle GT has been produced and marked half of a million made.

The latest Excelle GT was introduced in March of 2015. Since then, it has gone on to pull in an average monthly demand of 30,000 units. For the first six months of 2016, deliveries totaled 227,991, up 66-percent year over year.

While the Excelle GT soldiers on, its more bare-bones variant will bite the dust soon. After 13 years, the regular Buick Excelle will exit production this year, giving Buick a more premium space and allowing Chevrolet to capitalize on the affordable compact car market.
