GM saying that Envision was a niche product was silly talk. Envision, given its segment and beauty, can manage Encore-like sales.
GM should relocate production of Envision to the US once the GMC and Chevy varients enter production. Also, I’d hope that Envision his to Europe as opposed to Nox/Captiva varient. Opel needs the quasi luxury appeal of Envision.
I think that relocating production to the U.S. when the D2 Equinox and D2 Terrain went online was always part of the plan.
That said, sales of the the 2016 Envision will be limited because of the high starting price. The 2017 Envision, with its lower-priced trim levels, has the potential to sell 3-5k units per month.
The next-gen Equinox cannot get here soon enough for me. I love my 2012 LTZ but look forward to an even better vehicle soon. Hope it will hold golf clubs in the rear without having to fold down half of the rear seat.
This is a niche number. Keep in mind most volume models like this will sell 10K-20K or more a month.
But at the price range this is in this is not a bad number as these are not cheap.
I do expect more volume and a move to North America once the Nox and Terrain start production here.
All luxury/premium is “niche”. By your loguc all luxury cars would be produced in the developing world.
Once lower priced from levels go online expect Lacrosse-like numbers. Acura, Infinity and Audi should do so well.
Steve this is what I state. I expect increase in production and I expect it to move here. They just did not start it here as there is no line and the other two models are not ready yet.
I would not be surprised to see this model reach 75K units per year. In China they sell about all they can build and there will be an Opel to go with this too.
The simple fact is GM was not going to start a line for a 1-2 years to build and sell only a low number of models at a plant that can make 300K units or more.
My logic is that the other models need to be in plant before they start the line no more no less.
It is a Buick so you can expect a higher sticker price . For Buick I don’t think they look at this vehicle as a niche product . Bringing production to the States or Canada might increase sales somewhat for the consumer that would have a hard time buying something of this magnitude from a communist country .
One important fact is if Buick can show that they need more product the facility that is targeted for the production of the other two could start production of the Buick and work out the kinks in the plant so when the other two are ready to produce the factory would be ready for them . All the training would have been done as the ramp up continues .
the Envision is too slab-sided….and Encore look vary cartoonesh.
Guess you aren’t a Buick fan. I like Envision.
