Over Half Of Buick Encore Buyers Are New To General Motors

Over half of Buick Encore buyers in the United States are new to General Motors, the automaker announced during its August 2016 sales call.

The Encore notably accounted for 49,187 deliveries in the first eight months of 2016, an increase of 12.6 over the same time period in 2015.

The GM Authority Take

Over half of Encore sales going to new-to-GM owners is quite a notable accomplishment, as attracting new customers is no easy task, whether for an automaker or for a automotive brand. That’s especially true for GM and Buick, neither of which enjoy an extraordinarily positive reputation in America’s general auto space.

Earlier this month, we learned that another Buick vehicle — the Cascada convertible — is also very apt at earning new customers, with 60 percent of the drop-top’s buyers being new to GM.

  1. Buick Encore was both mine and my lady’s first GM purchase. She wanted a small vehicle that made efficient use of space and as she would be the primary driver. AWD, nice interior for a compact vehicle, and a back seat adults can fit in are nice additions. We’re currently leasing it for $150 a month as we wanted to give GM a chance before we purchased. It’s been a great vehicle and I don’t mind driving it (she had a yellow VW Beetle before). We’ll either buy the lease or get the newer one with the refreshed interior/exterior and the new motor.

  2. it looks like a lot of people are buying those cartoonesh looking CUVs….the rear seat area looks like the most cramped place.

    1. It’s a subcompact crossover. Were you expecting the rear seat to have palatial levels of space?

    2. ‘looks like’

… because you’ve never tried it. Try it. Then try the Volt’s backseat. I say try because as hard as it is to get in the backseat it’s even harder to get out.

  3. I have a hard time reading why the Encore’s sales winning streak took a dip in August. Just one month, but still, it was ploughing along like the Colorado. Good that they’re conquest sales; maybe people are waiting for 2017. Or maybe things are softening.

    1. Well, Encore sales were more or less in line with the entire industry in August. Demand for the Colorado continues to exceed supply, so it’s a bit of an exception to the general market/industry trend.

      1. Yeah, I didn’t mean that the models were comparable. More that the Encore was on a perpetual up-escalator, like Colorado – kind of market/industry trend proof, to a degree… And I get the ‘what goes up, must come down’ thing.

Just surprised that the Encore took a dip. They still sell a ton of them – anyway, hope it’s more of a blip than a trend.

  4. I no way in hell would buy an Encore.

    1. I no way in hell would buy over 400 different items in any supermarket.

      Who cares?
