Baojun 310 Hatchback Launches In China

General Motors-SAIC has unveiled the latest addition to the Baojun brand: the 310 hatchback. The Baojun 310 is expected to help propel the brand’s fiery growth in China with segment-leading technology and an efficient powertrain.

The exterior follows typical Baojun styling with its U-shaped front grille and inverted U-shaped lower grille. The overall footprint of the hatchback checks in at just over 100-inches, but inside features seven cubic-feet of trunk space and 35 cubic feet of overall cargo room with the 310’s seats folded down flat.

The Baojun brand stands as an entry level point in GM-SAIC operations, and its equipment list mimics that. However, some notable standout features include heated mirrors, a backup camera and navigation.

As for power, it’s frugal. A 1.2-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine powers the 310 hatch with 81 hp and 86 lb-ft of torque available at 3,600 RPM. But, the 310 will sip just 5.3-liters (1.4-gallons) of fuel per 100 km (62 miles), or roughly 44 miles per gallon.

Like its powertrain, the price is frugal, too. The Baojun 310 hatchback starts at just RMB 36,800 ($5,521 USD) and may be optioned out at RMB 49,800 ($7,472 USD).
