60 Percent Of Buick Cascada Buyers New To GM

Six out of ten Buick Cascada buyers are new to General Motors, the automaker revealed during its August 2016 sales call.

The Cascada accounted for 622 deliveries in August 2016 — its sixth full month on sale in the U.S. market. In the first eight months of the year, the compact drop-top tallied 5,326 deliveries.

The GM Authority Take

The 60 percent figure is quite impressive, as it shows that the compact soft-top convertible is, in fact, accomplishing its goal of conquesting new customers to Buick (and to GM), while also delivering incremental sales.

    1. Add a mini can and Buick will be the New Chrysler. Cascada plus BN’s Lacrosse design, and the brand’s price point position Buick a Chrysler alternative while the real focus must be Lexus, Acura and even Audi.
Cascada, while attractive, it’s an out dated has beenand, as such, far from a true luxury offering.
Buick shouldn’t be a destination for Opel surplus. A certain degree of sharing (Mokka/Encore) is fine but, truth be told, each brand has a unique mission Opel sharing far more overlap with Chevrolet–Astra would have made a great Cruze hatch while Cruze would have been an ideal Astra saloon. GM made a ridiculous mistake linking Opel and Buick with this alignment being based at the time on Chevy being sold in Europe.

  2. Not bad.

Not sure if 60% of 622 sales in August is ‘a conquest monster’, but it’s a start….

    1. Given how expensive and difficult it usually is to conquest automotive buyers nowadays, 60% of any sales volume is impressive, no matter the volume. A customer gained is a customer gained 🙂

This is especially true for a brand like Buick, which has undergone decades upon decades of damage and carries with it the known stigmas.

      1. Oh, I know – not an easy task at all. Particularly, as you said, with a brand like Buick.

  3. Buick Cascada is simply too new.. and it’s situation is like the commercial where people are simply not expecting a convertible from Buick and this includes traditional Buick customers as it makes you wonder how a Chevy version might sell.

  4. That’s impressive.

  5. Funny how there are positive comments about conquest sales of the Cascada, that is manufactured in Poland, and the implied benefit to Buick as a whole by growing it’s customer base but mention the Envision (brought in to do the exact same thing) and the message board is bombarded with people deriding Buick for manufacturing/importing the car from China.

    Completely hypocrital.

      1. It was a general comment directed at those who are praising the conquest sales of one import vehicle while deriding the existence of another import vehicle of the same brand.

If it didn’t apply to you, ignore and move on.

        1. People on this site that reply to comments can be jerks.

If that didn’t apply to you, ignore and move on.

(If you feel like I just implied you were a jerk, now you get how you just implied people praising conquest sales were hypocrites.)

Ain’t that the truth! I, for one, am thankful that we can have a constructive and civilized discussion about these topics 🙂

            1. You blew my analogy Alex. lol

That statement implies people can be jerks but doesn’t name whom. And so the person who reads it can’t tell if I’m calling ‘some’ people jerks or them a jerk. Which brings up me back to —

              — Jamdown suggesting people praising these conquest sales are hypocrites. He’s implying everyone that praised here is a hypocrite.

              1. No vague implication here John Hart. I am actually saying that those who are praising conquest sales now but were deriding importing the Envision are hypocrites since both are build outside of the U.S. and both have the same mission statement.

There is not one comment saying not to buy the Cascada because it is build in Poland and taking away UAW jobs etc. but many not to buy the Envision or CT6 hybrid for that matter.

I feel the bias towards China and not Poland (or whatever other country) is hypocritical.

                1. Jamdown — this is merely a wording thing. You said —

‘Funny how there are positive comments about conquest sales of the Cascada — ”

I put a positive comment. And so you included me. Directly. Then you implied I was a potential hypocrite by saying —

“but mention the Envision (brought in to do the exact same thing) and the message board is bombarded with people deriding Buick. Hypocrites.”

You didn’t SAY I was a hypocrite but you didn’t rule me out either. It’s a language thing. I’m trying to edit it to the proper language. And it’s tricky keeping your meaning. Something like this —

“So if a car is built in Poland it’s great for conquest, but if it’s built in China it isn’t? I’m wondering where all the board members who resent the Envision are now?”

See the difference? I didn’t slur myself and people who praised the conquest sales.

          2. John, Poland is a NATO allied nation with which, via EU, we are building a free trade pact with.
China is a rival that has nukes aimed at us. The Chinese threaten our South China Sea allies and talk war.
            No hypocrisy!
