2017 Chevrolet Volt Bestowed A Top Safety Pick+ By IIHS: Video

Not only will the 2017 Chevrolet Volt keep things green for its owner, but it will also keep them quite safe. The 2017 Volt (finally) underwent crash testing by the IIHS where it walked away passing with flying colors, according to Inside EVs.

In the process, the 2017 Volt earned an overall “Good” rating, including in the difficult-to-nail small overlap test. In the end, the IIHS chose the 2017 Volt for a Top Safety Pick+.

Specifically, in the small overlap test, measurements taken show a low risk of any significant injuries in this scenario. The cabin space was also well maintained with minimal structural intrusion.

The news follows the 2017 Cadillac XT5, which also received a Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS.

  1. General Motors may be able to reuse the slogan of yesteryear of ‘Nobody sweats the details like General Motors’ because this safety rating is proof that the engineers at General Motors are designing and building cars that don’t sacrifice safety for performance or efficiency.

  3. It’s also worth mentioning that the headlights (standard LED) received Good ratings too (with the Driver Confidence II package, Acceptable rating without).

To get a *2017* TSP+, headlights need to be either Acceptable or Good – meaning the Volt will also be a 2017 TSP+ when they roll out that rating.
