The Iso Grifo may strike a perfect balance for many automotive enthusiasts: Italian, vintage coach-built design and big American power.
This particular 1967 Iso Grifo GL Series embodies both in an exemplary fashion, sporting its original 304 hp, 327 cubic inch Chevrolet V8 engine and unrestored body following its rediscovery after over 20 years in storage.
The original owner purchased the car all original in 1986 and planned to send the Iso Grifo off for restoration. Except, it never happened.
The vehicle was forgotten before it was recognized as something truly special; in its configuration, it is one of 34 right-hand drive Iso Grifo Series I examples ever manufactured .
The 1967 Iso Grifo found a new home quickly when it was put up for auction at the most recent RM Sotheby’s showing where it sold for £128,800, or roughly $170,558 USD. We can’t blame the price tag for this magnificent car.

Chevy has never made a 300 in.³ V-8. Most likely it was a 327. As for 304 hp that doesn’t sound right either. Back then horsepower was always rounded off to a zero or 5.
Gearhead1,
I converted the bhp unit of 300 bhp to roughly 304 hp per our style and copy to display the units most are familiar with. So, you are correct in your comment!
Cheers,

Uhhh seriously what’s up with this? GM Authority represents itself as a trusted authority on all things GM which should go much deeper than dissecting sales figures for the latest fuel sipping global SUV appliance that has everyone on the edge of their seats.
The Grifo came initially with Corvette 327s and a Borg Warner 4-speed. What Chevrolet small block ever came in 300ci? Buick made a 300ci small block V8 based on the 215… C’mon, Sean. You own an SS ferchrissake! There’s no excuse for this. My favorite Iso is the Rivolta. They used to be cheap. Oh well.
Idiot Boy,
I’m aware there is no such thing as a 300 ci small block, that was a typo on my part. It’s been fixed.
Cheers,
-Sean
Alrighty then. You know I’m a fan, you just had me worried there for a second (and it would be a 300 or 350hp rating per the Corvette). Don’t let it happen again!
