Thieves stealing the wheels off of cars sitting on dealer lots is a common occurrence, but a thief in Ohio was recently killed when the GMC Yukon he was attempting to rob the wheels off crushed him to death.
According to the Canton Repository, the man was killed when he attempted to remove the first of the Yukon’s wheels and the vehicle came off the jack, falling on his head.
The dealership, Ron Marhofer Buick GMC in Canton, Ohio, remained open for hours the next day, with the man’s body not being discovered until about noon. A sales associate noticed the body of the 44-year old when a vehicle that was blocking it drove away.
The store remained open for sales as investigators arrived on the scene. The vehicle is now apparently being checked over for damage and will presumably be sold.
In early July, a Texas dealership had the wheels stolen from over 40 Cadillac Escalades. That crime is thought to have been committed by an organized crime ring hitting multiple area dealerships, where as our would-be-wheel thief was working alone.

I guess some vehicles like to be seen in their shoes. 🙂
It makes you want to break out laughing.. as one can almost imagine what his last thought might have been as he possibly heard the jack slip and give way a split second before the SUV fell on his head.
I would like to see the technique he used to take a wheel off a vehicle that caused his head to get crushed.
I was thinking the same thing Greg. The only thing I can think of is being a thief he thought if he stayed under the vehicle he would not be seen by passerbys or security cameras taking the wheels off and tried to loosen the lug nuts from under the truck. Probley had one tire off and was getting the lug nuts to another tire loose when it gave way.
That’s an interesting point. Maybe this is a murder that someone tried to make look like a botched theft. From the article there seemed to be cars blocking the SUV to the point where no one discovered the body for several hours so I don’t think the victim needed to hide under the vehicle.
I’d love to own that killer Yukon. I’d even paint a kill marking on the fender. 4 more and I’d be an ace!
That was at a local dealership.
I think what happened was if anyone has taken off a wheel off a new GM vehicle most will find the wheels are very hub centric.
This usually ends up with a wheel that will not come off easily once unbolted. I have this issue on three of my GM vehicles. What I do is use a large rubber mallet to knock it off the hub. Now if you were out stealing wheels I would suspect you would not have a large rubber mallet with you and may have crawled under the vehicle to kick it off. With that said I assume his jack was not great and he had no jack stand.
That would be my guess on how this happened and crushed his head.
I am sure Crooked Hillary will blame this on Trump somehow…
Wow…your very own Christine!
Hey, look on the bright side: at least that’s one “non-violent” offender that OBAMA won’t get to release!
Mark: what an ignorant comment.
Karma’s a bitch eh?
Justice is served. Darwin award winner 2016!
A thought occurred to me after reading what y’all have written. I drive a 2014 Silverado, and I have crawled under that truck a gazillion times and never had it up on a jack. So either he had a big head or he already had one or two off. In either case, and assuming he got there, how do you explain that one to Saint Peter?
That new anti theft system seems to be working nicely.
He asked for a little head–and he got it !! DMD
