Texas Chevrolet Dealership Has Wheels Stolen From 48 Vehicles

Thieves have struck yet another Texas dealership, and this time, it was a Chevrolet dealer. Automotive News reports 48 sets of wheels were stolen from Peltier Chevrolet in Tyler, Texas.

The incident occurred around 1 a.m., with video surveillance footage showing a large box truck arriving at the rear gate. The thieves proceeded to break the lock and cut the lights while they went about stripping Chevrolet Tahoes, Camaros, Silverados and Traverses of their wheels. Most wheels were 20- and 22-inches in size. Police say the operation lasted around four hours.

Some vehicles weren’t even left on blocks, damaging the inventory. Estimates have the damage and loss of property hovering around $200,000 to $250,000.

“We’ll go through and do a full safety inspection, get wheels and tires replaced and we’ve contacted our insurance company,” David Bates, general manager at Peltier Chevrolet, said. “It’s rough but we’ll get through it.”

Similar events have occurred throughout Texas, but police have yet to receive a solid lead as to who the thieves are, or where the wheels are ending up.
