Tuned 2016 Tesla Model S P90D Meets A C7 Corvette Z06, Chevy Camaro: Video

With a little bit of magic from the Racelogic Performance Box this 2016 Tesla Model S P90D in Ludicrous mode was able to run an 11.034-second at the quarter-mile, sprinting from 0 to 60mph in 2.5 seconds and from 0 to 100 mph in just 7.06 seconds.

The battle between big displacement or forced induction will soon be a thing of the past, what we’re seeing is the emergence of EV performance. This Telsa easily took down a Ford Mustang GT, twice. It would have taken down a Chevrolet C7 Corvette Z06, too, but of course it red-lighted against the Z06, which also seemed to miss third gear from the sounds of it.

The third muscle-car victim is a turbocharged third-gen Camaro that screams down the strip. The Camaro may have made more noise, but it still lost by what we guess to be about a second (the camera angle doesn’t allow us to see the end of the Camaro’s run).

What’s your reaction to these Tesla-kills? Is the instant torque of an EV enough to sway you, or is the experience of a roaring engine irreplaceable?

A car-loving millennial. We Are!

  1. That Z06 driver is an absolute disgrace. What a waste!

  2. its all about how you put out force. Tesla has no gear changes, and AWD, therefore, it can more easily put out force. it wasn’t a race of what drives but how. If that is what we are looking for, change the competition. That platform is more of a competition for an AWD Porsche Turbo. BtW’s the 0-60 and quarter miles are all won by American muscle running a high gear and almost 2000ftlbs of torque, that way they do exactly what the tesla did, but way faster and cheeper.

    1. You are over complicating things. If you are looking for bragging rights then sure your point makes it not worth bragging about. Howver, i just want a car and if I want a fast car, i will just take the one that is faster than the other. I dont care bout why or how. I will leave that up to the people that build them.

  3. The Tesla P90D Ludicrous, with options and tax, must cost over $135,000. This car is faster than anything on the road, including many supercars costing far more than $135,000. We do know that competition from BMW, Mercedes and Porsche will roll out Gas engine with electric boost motors to offer faster cars, That said, we are nearing the point where, too fast, (0 to 60+), creates many safety concerns. At some point, Federal safety regulation may limit acceleration due to the safety of the general driving public.

  5. When the novelty wears off, drag strip operators will realize that silent four door sedans beating America’s best muscle cars is bad for business.

  6. Eh Electric cars are not new future technology. You can find them in museums from the early 1900s. Look it up yourself. These tesla models are quick. Although they have no top speed and after drag racing have virtually no travel distance left and need a recharge.

  7. I have not been able to find Tesla’s vs other cars at a race track… it’s always drag races.
