Opel Represented In UEFA Champions League Play, Chevrolet Locked Out

Opel will maintain a broad global appeal this football (soccer, fütbol) season with UEFA Champions League exposure.

Opel currently enjoys a sponsorship of Bundesliga-runners up, Borussia Dortmund, which are in Group F of the 2016-2017 Champions League bracket. Group F also consists of Portugal’s Sporting CP, Poland’s Legia Warszawa, and Champions League title holders Real Madrid. The Group Stage is surely not one to miss here.

Running parallel with the season will be a chance to take home a 2017 Opel Mokka X. Opel invites fans to compete against Liverpool coach and Opel Ambassador Jürgen Klopp in a prediction match organized by bild.de. Two VIP trips for a home game are also up for grabs in the competition, which will be awarded halfway through the competition.

The brand’s third high-profile soccer endorsement is the new Opel Arena, home of  Bundesliga and Europa League contenders Mainz 05.

Meanwhile, Chevrolet-sponsored Manchester United once again did not qualify for the UEFA Champions League, and thus greatly limiting the exposure of a $600 million endorsement. However, Manchester United did qualify for the Europa League, so there’s that.
