More Hardcore Holden Colorado Could Arrive If Customers Demand It

The 2017 Holden Colorado will be a hell of a capable pickup truck, but the brand has stated a more hardcore variant could come along. That is if consumers ask for it.
Car Advice spoke with managing director and chairman Mark Bernhard during the launch of the 2017 Holden Colorado, and he stated that kind of truck will depend on what customers ask for.
“If the demand is there and we can foresee demand, we need to build a business case. Each [business case] needs to stand up in its own right and we will go after it,” Bernhard said.
Speaking on the same topic, Holden’s executive director of sales, Peter Keley, stated the brand has a few ideas its mulling currently.
“There’s definitely opportunity and we’ve got a couple of ideas there. There is a lot of appetite in the pickup truck market for that type of vehicle. It’s a niche market, but something of interest.”
“If something like that was to exist, it would be because the customer tells us they want it. We see what customers are doing to their vehicles,” Keley said.
Meanwhile, in North America, Chevrolet is inching closer to a production variant of the Colorado ZR2 concept shown two years ago. If Aussies clamor for such a truck, maybe our ZR2 could provide a bit of blueprint, no?
