The fourth annual Corvette Invasion at the Circuit of the Americas F1 racetrack in Texas has come and gone. The big event had a huge turnout, as expected, with Corvette owners making the trip from all over the country. In light of the event, videographer Casey J. Porter created this two-minute-and-fifty-second video recap.
The video shows the wide variety of Corvettes in attendance, ranging from pristine C2 Corvettes to more modern Corvettes with artistic designs, like the Wonder Woman C5 at 0:33, or red C7 Stingray right before it bearing a tasteful ‘Stingray’ hood decal. A big crowd-pleaser was the gold-and-black C3 AstroVette, a one of three Corvettes built for the astronauts of the Apollo mission.
To wit, at one point in time Chevrolet had a program that allowed astronauts to essentially lease vehicles for $1 a year. The Apollo astronauts wanted matching cars, thus the three AstroVettes were brought into existence. Special Corvettes with a rich history are part of what creates the atmosphere at events like these. The allure of course, is part of why so many folks continue to return year after year. That and the fact that they can open up their Corvettes around an F1 racetrack.
