How To Keep Up With This Weekend’s IMSA Continental Tire Road Race Showcase From Road America

The entire IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship field will head to Road America this weekend for the ninth round of the 12-race 2016 schedule.

The No. 4 Corvette Racing crew heads to the legendary circuit in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin first in GTLM, with 10 points over the No. 67 Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GT squad. Chevy is also 10 points clear of Ford in the GTLM manufacturer’s standings.

Considering the tight championship standings, every race will matter for Corvette Racing from here on out. Luckily Road America is a circuit all too familiar for the Corvette team. They’ve enjoyed six wins at the 4.048-mile, 14 turn track since 2002, and also tested there in May ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

“If we look at all the racetracks on which we compete and the history that Corvette Racing has enjoyed at each of them, you could make the claim that none are more important that Road America,” Corvette team principal Doug Fehan said. “Elkhart Lake was the site of the very first Corvette Corral. You have the iconic Corvette Bridge, the Kettle Moraine, the food the people… all those things and more combine to make it our favorite venue in North America.”

If you want to watch Corvette Racing and the rest of the IMSA field take to Road America this weekend, you’ll want to tune into Fox Sports 1 on Sunday, August 7th at 4:00 p.m. ET. You can also catch qualifying at IMSA.tv on Saturday at 3:45 p.m.
