Flyin’ Miata LS3 V8 Swap Will Also Fit Into Fiat 124 Spider

We already knew that Flyin’ Miata was in the midst of creating a swap that would stuff the 6.2-liter LS3 V8 under the hood of a brand-new ND Miata, but what we didn’t know is that this swap will also be available for the Fiat 124 Spider. Of course, being that the two are platform twins, it couldn’t have been more obvious.
For about $50,000 USD plus the cost of the vehicle, you could have a 124 Spider, or Miata, with the grunt of a Corvette to go along with the sportier styling. Technically the 124 Spider kit is still under development, so final figures might be slightly different in terms of final pricing and performance, but we imagine that the differences will be unsubstantial.
Since the Miata and 124 have their differences from the factory, we figure that the two will be just about the same with this LS swap conversion kit installed, being that the engine – the biggest mechanical difference between the 124 Spider and Miata – is getting ripped out. It’s a smart move for Flyin’ Miata, as it allows the company to pander to the Fiat crowd without having to alter their proven formula very much.
As for power, Flyin’ Miata will offer the LS3 swap in either 430 horsepower or 525 horsepower flavors.
Sure the engine will fit … but still won’t save it from that ugly makeover from the ND. Original 124 was beautiful, this thing is as ugly as Marchionne himself.
$50000? Lol where the hell are you guys getting your figures from? Lol stupid. I know a shop that’s been doing LS swaps for the longest time and charge like $8-9000 for the complete swap.
Would like to find that shop.
