Faraday Future has been successful in bringing on some of the best talent from across the industry as of recent. The Chinese start up has plans for powertrain operation in California and eyes big plans for the future.
Now, it seems Peter Savagian has been courted away from General Motors to become Faraday Future’s Vice President of Propulsion Engineering, according to Electrek. Savagian will be responsible for leading powertrain operations at the California facility.
Savagian spent 18 years with General Motors, notable as the chief engineer behind the controversial EV1 program. Most recently Savagian remained an important member of the company’s electric drive team.
Interestingly, Faraday Future seems to be rebuilding the original EV1 team; the report states Savagian will join several former colleagues including Silva Hiti, Young Mok Doo and Steven Schulz, each contributing to the EV1 years ago.
Faraday Future is in the process of developing an entire line of electric vehicles and is eying a factory space in North Las Vegas for production.
