Community Question: Is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Priced Right?

Chevrolet finally graced us with some of the most important information surrounding the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1: how much is it going to cost this time around? The answer was a dollar amount of $62,135.

So, as usual, we want to know if you think the Camaro ZL1 has hit the sweet spot in terms of pricing, or if there’s a better value out there currently. Previously, you all stated the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro 1LE pricing was one hell of a value in our poll (which you can visit here), but let’s talk about the ZL1 momentarily.

That price tag of $62,135 nets you the most potent Camaro of the sixth-generation thus far, and there’s a whole bundle of performance involved. 0-60 comes in just 3.5 mind-blowingly-fast seconds, max cornering grip tops at 1.02 gs and the quarter mile is dispatched in only 11.4 seconds.

In comparison, the previous-generation Camaro ZL1 started at just $55,505, but there’s arguably much more car here for the money this time around. The real question will be how much the 10-speed automatic gearbox will cost as an option, as it will not be available upon the 2017 Camaro ZL1’s launch.

So, now, we turn it to you. Vote in our poll below, and discuss down in the comment section. The floor is yours.

  1. The camaro and the corvette are both super charged. The GT350R Makes 526 HP. Naturally without turbo or super charger, the flat plane crank puts the redline above 8,300 rpms. On you tube some one bought one bolted on a supercharger, and without tuning or reprogramming it made 808HP. That’s 101 more than the HELLCAT . I Know people don’t like Ford but they have something going on with that new technology. I’ll buy the GT350 for the mid $50,000’s bolt on a huffer and smoke whatever is in the next lane. The LS-A. the LS-7 and the LS-9. are grate motors but the Ford went smaller with just 5.2L big things are coming this technology will lay waste to supercars especially there price. Why pay half a million or more for 1 exotic when you can buy 9 American cars that will smoke it for the same price?

  2. As for the LT engine GM has yet to tap all that is available. It is stated GM has been testing them over 1,000 HO but will not use more than they can put to the ground.

While unconfirmed other aftermarket tuners have easily made the 1,000 HP mark and more.

As for the Mustang it is a nice car but more power is not going to make it a better car if it can not use all the power. Also they need to work on the weight as GM is losing weight the Mustang has been gaining.

As for why buy an exotic? Well as Ferris Bueller stated if you have the means I highly recommend it.

A Mustang with lots of power is cool but it is still not a Ferrari.

There is a place for all great cars. No need to be biased for any single one just enjoy them all.

  3. I priced a 2017 ZL1 auto, nav, intergrated video, sunroof, with the antipated gas guzzler tax, it is coming in at just under 74K. The Z28 did not exactly fly off the shelf at the same price. The ZL1 is a lot more comfortable to drive (referencing Gen 5 versions of both cars) but still mid 70’s for a high performance Camaro is a lot of money. Perhaps close enough to a used Z06 to make them difficult to sell. I am number one at my Chevy dealer for a ZL1 when they come in. Not sure I will take it. I own a 2015 ZL1.
