Chevrolet Cavalier Officially Debuts For The Chinese Market

We’ve heard mumbling over the past few months of the Chevrolet Cavalier returning. Certainly, it wasn’t going to be for the U.S. market, but the Chinese market instead.

Chevrolet has made it official today with the release of the Cavalier sedan in China. Basically, the brand has reskinned the Chevrolet Cruze Classic with a new face and slotted the Cavalier below the all-new Chevrolet Cruze in China. The move is said to strengthen the brand’s small car portfolio in the market.

The Cavalier will be powered by a familiar-to-China 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with either a six-speed automatic or five-speed manual gearbox reporting for shifting duty.

As for design, the exterior wears familiar Chevrolet cues, especially for the brand’s Chinese offerings, while the interior keeps the signature “dual cockpit” design and airy headroom.

Chevrolet will showcase the new Cavalier to the public next month on September 2.

  1. The last Cruze is still a decent car. A renamed lower content version could do well in the US as well if the oil pricing situation continues especially with FCA bailing out of small cars. Big potential to catch their lost sales.
