Ad Break: 2017 GMC Acadia Is Not A Conductor, But A Maestro

GMC has recently moved to keep its “Professional Grade” tagline for more of its rugged trucks and slip “Precision” into more of its mainstream product offerings. That continues with the 2017 GMC Acadia and its latest digital spot.

How many ways can you call a vehicle a leader? GMC found a new one, as it compares the Acadia’s ways to not just a conductor, but a maestro. There are conductors, and then there are maestros. There are crossovers, and then there are GMCs, so they say …

The spot also cleverly incorporates the campaign’s original soundtrack from The Who into a semi-classical rendition. However, we refuse to call the 2017 Acadia an SUV as the ad does. If it’s not body-on-frame, a sport utility vehicle it is not.

  1. Wow, I kinda lost the whole ‘why Acadia is all-new, different and better’ part. But I guess I did learn about conductors and maestros.

I’d venture sales will be pretty good. But I suspect this commercial won’t be the catalyst. Kind of a faux-upscale hot mess – trying to straddle the ‘women are the target mkt’ vs ‘gmc is professional grade and precise’.
