The performance powerhouse that is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is coming, and it’s coming fast. No, really, it will hit 60 mph in first gear.
CarScoops reports lead Camaro engineer, Al Oppenheiser, told guests at a public event the 2017 Camaro ZL1 will click off 60 mph in first gear with the manual gearbox equipped. That’s quite a feat considering not many supercars of yore could do the same. Even the power rivals supercars from just 10 years ago: 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque are on tap and ready.
If you’d like to try a 0-60 mph run with the manual gearbox, you’re in luck. The manual transmission will be the only one available when the 2017 Camaro ZL1 begins hitting dealerships. The upcoming 10-speed automatic will sit out for a short period of time before coming available.
