Tony Stewart was the top finishing Team Chevy driver in Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series New Hampshire 301 at Loudon, finishing second behind Joe Gibbs Racing’s Matt Kenseth.
The result marked Kenseth’s second win of the season and Stewart’s second consecutive top-five finish. Kenseth tuned it on late to take the win, passing fellow Toyota driver Martin Truex Jr. on Lap 258 to take the lead for the first time.
Kenseth turned the lead over to teammate Denny Hamlin following a Lap 264 restart in which Hamlin elected to stay out while the majority of the field pitted. It wasn’t long before he was in his rearview mirror, however, passing Hamlin to take the lead for good on Lap 271 of 301.
Team Penske Ford driver Joey Logano finished third behind Stewart, while Kevin Harvick put Chevy in the top five for the second time. Greg Biffle rounded out the top five.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to Indianapolis Motor Speedway next for the Crown Royal Combat Wounded Coalition on July 24th. Click here for full results from New Hampshire and here for a full schedule of next weekend’s NASCAR festivities.
