Mother Accused Of Placing Children In Trunk Of Corvette While Driving

Adding to the list of things “things you shouldn’t do with children” is this story. ABC News reports 29 year-old mother, Jessica Reger of Hanover, Pennsylvania, has been accused of placing her three and five year-old children in the trunk of a Corvette and driving around.

Police stopped Reger, who was in the passenger seat while 28 year-old Ilena Blackburn operated the vehicle, after identifying the vehicle. A 911 call was placed after witnesses watched Reger load her young children into the trunk.

Reger faces charges of endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person, while Blackburn has also been charged with recklessly endangering another person.

  1. Hey, at least she didn’t just leave them on the side of the road! Whew. Yes, I’m being sarcastic.

  2. I’ve rode in the back of a Z06 before. Its actually not as uncomfortable as it sounds. Although…the mufflers tend to make it pretty hot back there. Funny how everything hits the national news these days.

  3. Man how things have changed….for better or worse is still up for debate. I remember riding in the back of a 280zx and thinking it was the best thing ever back in 81. Same for the back of pickup trucks or station wagons with no thir row – as well as a few hatchbacks. In that era NONE of said actions would have raised an eyebrow let alone warranted a call to the police.

  4. Well the main difference here is was this a hatch or a Convertible.

If it was a hatch it was just stupidity and should be a ticket based on today’s rules.

Now if it was a convertible with a real trunk then it should be a criminal case.

I know we all rode in the back of a Vette as a kid or the rear window of a Corvair back in the day but you just can’t do stuff like that anymore. Times have changes and rules are now more comprehensive as people are too dumb to know where to stop anymore.

We can blame the law makers but they were given a reason to make things tougher due to poor judgment of the public. That and the law suits we see all the time anymore.

We never lived in a perfect world but people use to have a more collective higher level of judgement and responsibilities. Today they would film something like this and splash it on You Tube.

  5. When I had my ’64 Corvette convertible, my 12 and 7 year old children insisted on riding underneath the lid. Who was I to judge ?
