Holden Once Again Proves Genuine Parts Outdo Fake Replacement Components

Stick with stock, ladies and gentlemen. In a series of ongoing tests performed by Holden and the Australian government, it has once again been proven that original equipment is the best route to go with a vehicle.

We’ve seen Holden test fake, replacement wheels for its cars, but this time the brand looked at hoods. According to WardsAuto, Holden and the Aussie government tested Holden’s original, aluminum hood with a simulation machine developed to mimic an impact with a child.

During the testing, performed at 25 mph, the OEM hood performed better each time than the steel replacement, absorbing the impact better, thus, providing a better a chance at keeping the child alive in the event of an accident. The OEM hood did not allow for the body to any major engine components, either, a major cause of injury during an accident.

Furthermore, the fit and finish was found to be subpar, leaving panel gaps and added weight to the vehicle, too.

The ongoing testing is only a small part of the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries’ “Genuine Is Best” campaign, urging owners to only seek out proper replacement parts in the name of safety.
