The GMÂ Authority Take
We attribute the slight decrease in Silverado U.S. sales to GM’s goal to substantially reduce sales to daily rental fleets in the North American market, a notion further corroborated by the truck’s highest monthly Average Transaction Prices (ATP) in history. In addition, the 20 percent cash back discount that Chevy offered on many of its models in June only applied to specific models of the Silverado — specifically the 2016 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab in the LT trim level with 4WD and the All Star package. As such, the discount wasn’t applicable to most Silverado units in dealer inventory, thereby not having much of an impact on overall Silverado sales performance.
Comment
According to the Detroit News …
Incentives averaged $7,962 on the Chevrolet Silverado, up 76 percent from June levels, and $9,457 on the GMC Sierra, an increase of 147 percent, according to data obtained by Bloomberg.
So that should fix it.
