The all-new 2016 Cadillac CT6 offers both sound performance and ample luxury, a combination some would refer to as “the best of both worlds”. And the brand’s latest long-form video illustrates just that.
The available 404-horsepower, twin-turbocharged LGW V6, can propel the CT6 in quite a hurry, accomplishing a real-world 0-60 mph time of under 6 seconds. The full-size prestige-luxury sedan also offers an active chassis package with three performance driving modes, an all-wheel-drive system, and active rear steering.
The performance offerings are matched by quite a bevy of luxury features, such as heated and ventilated massage seats and a 34-speaker (34!) Bose sound system. The 20-inch machined aluminum wheels are also available for those who want to really fill out those wheel wells, though we think that the CT6 is an aesthetically pleasing vehicle without them.
So, go ahead and click play on the video. For some of you, this will simply be a well-developed video brochure, but for others it’ll be more like a strip tease. Either way, we think it’s worth the two and a half minutes you’ll spend watching it.

0-60 in under 6 seconds is really nothing to be proud of in a top of the line luxury sedan. While the German risks are gunning for 4 seconds and below in their luxury limousines cadillac is aiming for 6. That’s why cadillac fails at competing with the Germans. They’re more concerned with building a compromised bargain rival than a true competitor to the Germans.
Yep, to me, that’s the case. Even my relatively old, heavy and sedate 2010 LaCrosse with LF1 V6 with almost twice less torque does 0-60 in 8.4 sec, according to old Edmunds track test. And CT6 only does “better than 6”.
So, with CT6, they built this super-duper chassis and super-duper light (for its class) and sophisticated body – only to spoil all of this nicety this with the relatively mediocre (for the class) 8-speed Hydra-Matic + 3.0 V6 TT powertrain, which better looks on paper, but in reality only pretty much matches Chrysler 300 with standard Hemi 5.7 V8, which is a way cheaper car. And that’s the top powertrain for CT6 – still no V8 with better dynamics so far. Nuff said.
Just the guys here on this website are very heavily GM-positively-biased, so they don’t accept this obvious fact and put minuses on you.
Both you and John have no clue of what you are talking about. It is true that the CT6 with the 3.0 TT engine can go from 0-60 under 6 seconds but to look at the actual results, go to Car & Drive and Motor Trend for the results. Both mags. manage 0-60 at 5.0 seconds.
The brand description is PR talk and you two are getting bend out of shape for nothing. If you two do research and read up on test reviews, you will see estimate test results from the car.
There’re people who had test driven the 3.0TT model and said that the car was very fast and gutsy where the V8 is not necessary in most cases and the engine will be more than enough for most people. The V8 is yet to come for those who want top of the line performance and bragging rights.
I personally don’t trust Car & Driver and Motor Trend, since their 0-60 numbers are sometimes inconsistent and often too optimistic. I tend to trust Edmunds, and they say it’s 5.2 sec 0-60 for CT6 with 3.0 TT V6:

OK, maybe you won this time – 5.2 is actually faster than Hemi and is already really good in its own.
This 3.0 TT V6 itself seems to be better than 5.7 Hemi V8 in terms of performance, because peak torque is comparable, but this 3.0 has higher peak horsepower, which, in CT6, being AWD RWD-biased car of similar mass to RWD or AWD RWD-biased 300C Hemi, can lead to faster 0-60 acceleration time of CT6 vs 300C Hemi.
John first off this is not a V series car. Second it is not even a V sport model. The 4 seconds and better cars our professing have names like AMG and M on their flanks while their lesser models that the CT6 is up against file the 6 second 0-60 times that the CT6 does.
Also you need to understand the Germans are in a world of hurt for future regulations as they are far below the expected levels in many models. Now Germany is talking going all green by 2030? Where is that going to leave them?
While the cool cars that go 0-60 in 3 are cool there is a lot more on the table that has to be considered for these companies. We will see a lot of changes and not all are going to be pleasing just for them to meet future regulations.
It will be interesting to see where they go with it.
So, it’s Cadillac’s job to release the V sport or V series version of CT6.
For now, having CTS-V, but not having CT6-V or whatever it may be called, it’s like having MB E-AMG, but not having MB S-AMG.
As for Germans and Green regulations by 2030, I suppose, they will just electrify themselves by then, and come up with powertrains similar to Tesla S and Tesla X – no emissions at all and 0-60 in around 3 seconds for AMG/M and such, and slower for more basic models. They pretty much already started doing this at Porsche, MB and BMW.
On a side note the PGA was in town and there was a massive fleet of CT6 and XT5 models on the roads here. They both look very good and I expect the changes JDN will bring will be even more radical than what we have seen. The next 4-5 years should prove interesting to say the least.
So, it’s FLEET sales of CT6 and XT5. Like, you know, Town Cars before or Livery MKTs now.
This tends to deteriorate the image of what is “American Luxury”.
It’s like average person’s impression like this:
“Lincolns and Cadillacs? Aaa, I recall, these are these fancy taxi cabs out there.”
the CT6 looks mah in the exterior design and it takes 6 sec from 0-60….the CT6 isn’t that great.
Man, you’re always saying the same stuff here for months and years. It’s boring to read – please reinvent yourself.
Many of the comments seem to correlate more with a sports car than a luxury vehicle. Those who purchase a luxury vehicle are probably not going to enter in a competitive race, but the comments tend only toward all out performance.
I am on my eighth Cadillac and, while none could nor should compete with a Ferrari, who cares. A luxury car should, by definition, be dedicated to comfort, sufficient power and a singular appearance that bespeaks good taste, high quality and exclusivity. The CT6 meets and exceeds all of those factors and more by being an American luxury car that is a strong contender in the class.
At least the design staff for Cadillac has refrained from creating vehicles with grills that closely resemble a yawning hippopotamus as Lexus has done!
I guess Cadillacs excuse for watering down the same dull design was successful.
It is successful except that it is not the same nor dull! Design appeal is, of course, in the eye of the beholder and that is true for all vehicles. The XT5 can hold its own with anything out there particularly the hippopotamus mouth grill of the Lexus small suv.
