First of all, let’s stop calling crossovers SUVs, shall we? Excellent. The Buick Encore was a crossover sent over from Europe into North America at the right time. Since its introduction in 2013, the Encore has exploded in popularity.
The Buick Encore alone has helped the segment become the fastest growing segment in the United States, growing 30-percent since 2013. According to the brand, one-quarter of small crossovers on the road are Buick Encores.
“The Encore is a pioneering force in a segment hugely popular with customers, with one in four Small SUV owners in the U.S. today driving a Buick,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Buick Sales, Service and Marketing. “The upcoming 2017 model doubles down on what’s made it successful, like extensive soft-touch interior materials not offered by the competition.”
Through the first six months of 2016, the U.S. has become the Encore’s best market, reaching 30 straight months of year-over-year sales growth this past June.
Of course, it doesn’t stop there. The 2017 Buick Encore brings in new exterior looks, new interior technology and a more premium feel. Look for Buick’s hot streak to continue on this fall.

I finally got a look at the (my) 2015 Buick Encore reliability rating in Consumer Reports. The first few years were solid but last year’s model was near perfect. If you know how Consumer Reports does it — every category was a full red circle — except for onboard electronics being half red, half white.
Maybe Buick will focus more on the US now that they know that.
If it is the US that are buying most of these than why not build them here . Let the plant in Europe export to the market in China and build the Encore domestically for U.S buyers . The Oshawa plant is fighting to survive right now , have them build the Traxx and the future Cadillac too .
And I do realize it all comes down to the cost of making a move like this .
not a fan of the Encore….the design is a disaster.
So much better looking than the Chevrolet IMO. It’s more Ford like.. Very clean, sporty and classy! I wish the people designing all of the gorgeous Buick’s the last several years would step over into the Chevrolet design studio for awhile. It’s easy to see why this is a home run…
‘The Encore design is a design disaster’ is the words spoken by an idiot as the Buick Encore is one of the most successful cars in General Motors’ portfolio as between the Encore and it’s Chevrolet Trax twin sold 11,887 vehicles for the month of June with the only real question that remains is why hasn’t General Motors decided on creating a GMC and/or Cadillac variant.
I wonder if it’s because of cost. A fully loaded Encore is $27,485 give or take. Throw a Caddy badge on there you’re looking at quite an increase.
A 2016 Buick Encore Premium AWD with a $395 metallic paint option, the $1,940 Experience Buick Package option (moonroof, chrome wheels and navigation) is going to come in at $33,045. If you want to spring for the White Pearl Tricoat paint, you would be looking at $995.
Throw on a Caddy badge and you’d probably be at $38,995 — within striking distance of a base model FWD XT5.
The Buick Encore’s “hot streak” can get better if they offer a hybrid/EREV version for 2018.
Encore Volt, Encore Bolt
they seem to like these ugly funny looking Encores….I wouldn’t spent a cent for an Encore….I guess Encore buyers don’t give a flying crap about looks even with the new Toyota Paris.
looks are classy a lot better then some other imports . the only negative is that it is imported . keep AMERICANS working !!!!
