A Cadillac dealership in Live Oak, Texas is recovering from a massive, organized crime sting last weekend. Burglars got away with 40 sets of 2016 Cadillac Escalade wheels and tires from Cavender Cadillac last weekend, leaving the luxury SUV stilted on blocks, according to MySanAntonio.
Local police stated the burglars are likely a part of an organized crime ring that has hit multiple dealerships in Texas. Those responsible were able to turn off the dealerships’ lights to go about their business undetected. Security footage was still able to catch the group fleeing, and dealership management has since handed the footage over to the police.
It’s believed four people are responsible for the crimes, armed with power tools to remove the wheels and tires quickly and efficiently. No arrests have been made thus far in the crimes.
Thank goodness for insurance! Lets hope GM has the parts in stock. Because those Escalades are sitting ducks until then 😛
That is totally unbelievable . Sounds like an inside job to me . People had to have seen or noticed something was wrong even with the lights off . Is this dealership in the country on a deserted road !
Sounds like a city I sure want to live in ……… NOT !
Wheel lick should be standard on vehicles in his price range. It might not have stopped the but it possible would have slowed them down. Why were these vehicles not in a secure area with their alarms set?
I used to work a a Cadillac dealer ,we would put wheel locks on every Escalade as soon as it came off the shipping truck! ! Most customers were willing to pay extra for the locks! T.Y.
The wheel locks GM offers only have a few different patterns for the keys. You can buy a universal key to get them off. Even if the alarms were set, if they don’t have a advanced safety system the alarm wont go off while being jacked up. Short of putting up a huge chain link fence around a dealership and having a guard there the entire time, theres not much that can help.
