It’s a sad day to see a car exit production, much like the quirky, yet lovable, Pontiac Solstice and its sibling the Saturn Sky. To add to the finale, it was also one of the final cars to leave the Boxwood Road, Wilmington, Delaware assembly plant before General Motors shut its doors in 2009.
One plant worker documented the final vehicle’s journey, and had many employees take to the vehicle to sign various components. A “Solstice Book” was even dedicated to the car, and the future owner of the vehicle as a piece of memorabilia from the Kappa-based roadster.
The plant had held a final, fare well tour in 2009 before GM hit the lights at the facility, with many Solstice and Sky owners attending to watch the final Pontiac be assembled. Check out the mini-documentary of sorts above.
