Upcoming Opel Insignia OPC Spied Hitting The Nürburgring For Hot Laps: Video

Here we have some of the best footage yet of not only the new 2017 Opel-Vauxhall Insignia, but also the imminent performance variant: the Insignia OPC for Europe, the VXR for the United Kingdom. This is also a good indication of what we may see from a next-generation, 2018 Buick Regal GS.

As for styling, it’s still covered up pretty well. We see the same basic shape and plastic cladding hiding the true design of the car. But those multi-spoke wheels and big brakes mean business.

Foremost, we can also hear the car as it whips around the ‘Ring, rifling through gears through an automatic gearbox. It’s evident there is not a turbocharged four-cylinder under the hood, but almost certainly a boosted V6 of sorts.

General Motors has a few turbocharged V6s it could shove under the bonnet, but it remains to be seen what will make the final cut when the 2017 Insignia is revealed in Paris this coming September.

  1. They’re using brembo brakes from Cadillac? And the engine kinda does sound like the 3.0 TT or 3.6 TT but defines a little bit

  2. This may be my next car. I do like the current Regal GS, and if they can shave some weight and make it even more nimble AND add a potent V6, then I will be seriously considering it when it comes time to replace my little Sonic.

  6. My only worry is this.

Note Opel makes a OPC model now in Europe but it is about the same price as a ATSV. The present old model sells for $62K

I ponder if the one we see here will be close to that and would people in America pay close to $62K for a Regal?

The price is why we got the Turbo 4 as no one here would pay that much for a Regal GS when the ATSV is about the same price.

When looking at these cars you have to consider price and what else GM offers in market.

When you are dealing with 2,000 or less cars at a very high price how much will people pay for a Buick Regal?

I hope they find a way to bring it here as we see with a TT V6 but I worry it would be a hard business case to make.
Again this is a case of building what cars people will actually BUY not just want.
