Larbre Competition called up Nicky Catsburg and Jean-Pierre Belloc to participate in this past weekend’s Le Mans Test Day after usual driver Paolo Ruberti was hospitalized last week following a crash at Hockenheim.
Both Catsburg and Belloc participated in the weekend-long test day ahead of the 84th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, NBC reports. The team is expected to make an announcement this week in regards to which driver will fill Ruberti’s shoes in the GTE Am class at Le Mans.
Ruberti suffered fractured vertebrae while coaching a student at Germany’s Hockenheimring. The Italian racing driver underwent surgery for his injuries this week and is currently recovering in hospital.
“Due to his crash earlier this week during a coaching session, Italian driver Paolo Ruberti had successful surgery in Germany yesterday and will remain at the hospital for a few days,” Larbre said in a prepared statement. “Jack Leconte and his team wish Paolo a speedy recovery.”
Larbre’s Corvette C7.R will be one of four on the grid at Le Mans this year, with Team AAI fielding a single C7.R entry and Corvette Racing turning up with their usual pair. The race is scheduled to go green on Saturday, June 18th.
