Hot Or Not: 2017 GMC Sierra HD Denali

Days ago, GMC revealed the first photos of the 2017 GMC Sierra HD Denali, the brand’s crown jewel of “Precision” and “Professional Grade.”

As normal, we’re here to ask if you’re digging the big GMC’s new duds in this rendition of Hot or Not.

Interestingly, the Heavy Duty variant doesn’t adopt the same handsome front end as its less capable brethren. We think that’s a shame, because the 2016 GMC Sierra is a seriously good looking truck. Instead, the 2017 Sierra HD Denali looks much the same, albeit polished up a bit.

The biggest news is the hood and its fully-functional, ram air hood scoop. It’s cooling something down under the hood, but GMC won’t tell us what exactly is going on with the Duramax V8.

Other than those things, it ticks all the Heavy Duty Denali boxes. Chrome? Check. Big towing mirrors (also done up in chrome)? Check. Big, flashy wheels. You betcha.

How are you liking the 2017 Sierra HD Denali? Vote in our poll, and talk to us down below.

  1. it would of been nice if chevy hd and gmc hd kind of changed the front end like little brother I’ve aready seen some people put the new gmc head lights on the gmc HD

  2. What are the chances they put the revised headlights and grill? Look much better and more functional.

  3. Need a definitive HD grille…..this isn’t it. How about the grille shaped to form the letters GMC? Then something visual — HD in LED or something that shows up at night to give it a nighttime distinction unlike everything else on the road?

  4. It’s a great-looking truck, but just like everyone else, it would seem, I also would have liked to see the 1500’s updates carry over to the HD models. This is still a great-looking truck, but the 1500 looks more modern and refined in comparison.

  5. I would like to see updated grille. Definitely change the headlights and tail lights. Integrated video camera thru out truck.Get rid of the dumbo towing mirror.

  6. I wonder why they didn’t show the passenger side… Oh wait, the big ugly DEF tank is over there. Nevermind.
If I had to guess, I’d say the hood scoop is just to put some cooler air between the AC condenser and the intercooler, but I’ve been wrong before.

    1. And wrong I was. The scoop will now supply 60% of the air to the air box (40% still through the fender). And power numbers remain unchanged (according to the internet).

  7. What size tires? Do I still have to put on a lift kit to get the same size tires as a Ford, 275/65 20?

  8. The teuck is beautiful no question, however the front headlights looks to old to older 2000’s era, we want to see true neons looks not the dot dot dot look as to single neons, would like a 1 piece look like the dodge challengers have on my Denali, light up that front nose a little beause at 75k plus I want more!
