Holden Is Doing It For The Kids By Setting Up The Junior State of Origin Rugby Match

Holden is giving two junior rugby teams the chance to play in the game of their dreams inside ANZ Stadium in Sydney. The inaugural Holden Junior State of Origin match will be held on June 1st as a fun curtain raiser to the biggest sporting event in Australia – the Holden State of Origin Game I. The two teams are the Under 9s Clermont Bears and the Dungog Warriors.

“I love playing footy at Clermont with my friends, but I never thought I’d be playing in Sydney in front of a big crowd and get to meet some of Australia’s best players,” said Roman Revell-Blair of Clermont. Now Roman gets to be a bit like his uncle Maurice (Bob) Blair, who plays Rugby League professionally overseas.

In addition the their own match, the two team captains, Roman and Charlotte Baker of Dungog, will toss the coin for the Blues vs Maroons games, and will also form a “guard of honor” for the State of Origin players as they run onto the field at half time. Both teams will also get to the watch the game from a designated Holden VIP ‘red zone’ and have the opportunity to participate in a training session led by Origin legends Darren Lockyer and Matt Cooper on the day before the event.

“Roman and Charlotte came to our attention as budding rugby league stars via our Holden Home Ground Advantage program which recently awarded $10,000 to the Central Highlands Junior Rugby League and Dungog Warriors,” said Geraldine Davys, Holden’s Executive Marketing Director. “We’re thrilled to be providing this unique Junior State of Origin experience for some of QLD’s and NSW’s most footy-mad kids.”
