It’s typical for the Big 3 to enter a regular summer shutdown period over the warmer months to reduce any redundancies in inventory across the United States and Canada.
However, Fiat-Chrysler is on a hot streak with its Ram and Jeep brands. According to our sister publication, Fiat-Chrysler Authority, FCA will not shutdown its truck and SUV plants for a summer break.
General Motors has not indicated whether it will make a similar move. Chevrolet Silverado sales dipped in May, meaning an excess inventory is likely, while Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon sales remain hot. Ditto for the General’s body-on-frame SUVs.
GM is also playing catch up after it shut down multiple North American plants following supply issues in the wake of the Japanese earthquake.

Equinox plant cancelled one week of holidays.
Shuddered? I shudder to think what their English teacher is thinking!
eddie046,
They certainly wouldn’t be happy with me. Thank you.

WTF is this crap you write a story about FCA truck plants but use a chebby truck picture? what kind of douchebag are you?
The summer shutdown was to switch over to the next model year, not to adjust inventory. It was summer vacation for the employees and gave the plant the time to change any tooling or parts over for the new model.
