Corvettes Take 1-2 In Race One Of Trans Am Belle Isle Motor City 100

RJ Lopez was able to hold off pole setter Paul Fix for a victory in the first of two races in 3-Dimensional Services Group Trans Am racing action on Belle Isle this weekend, posting a best time of 1:33.470 in the OpticaLopez/Republica Brewing Chevrolet Corvette in the TA class. Fix, also in a TA Corvette, posted the fastest lap of the race with a time of 1:32.990 in his second-place effort. In third was John Baucom in the RaceRoadParts.com/Baucom Motorsports Ford Mustang, splitting another pair of 4th and 5th place Corvettes, driven by Amy Ruman and Simon Gregg, respectively. The race was 50 minutes long.

In TA2 action, Kyle Marcelli came victorious in the class with the MBRP Performance Exhaust Chevrolet Camaro, posting a fastest time of 1:37.617, holding off the Stevens Miller Racing Dodge Challenger which posted a time of 1:38.312. Marcelli finished sixth overall.

Race two will commence Sunday morning at 11:40 AM ET, and the 50-minute race is sure to give the city of Detroit (and Windsor) a glorious wake up call.
