Corvette Racing is looking ahead to the 2016 Sahlen’s 6 Hours of The Glen at Watkins Glen International after their trip to France for the 84th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Drivers of the No. 4 Corvette C7R., Tommy Milner and Oliver Gavin, are hoping to build on their lead in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship GTLM lead at The Glen. The pairing didn’t fare so well at Le Mans, with Milner crashing out late in the famous endurance race, but they’re looking for redemption with their return to American soil.
“Our focus now shifts back to the WeatherTech Championship and holding our championship lead.” Gavin said in a statement. “Watkins Glen has always been one of my favorites. I’ve heard they’ve done an amazing job with the resurfacing there. It’s going to make the track super-fast, which is always great fun. So we’re looking forward to getting back in North America, continuing with the championship and seeing what the next few races bring us.”
No. 3 Corvette C7.R drivers Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia, meanwhile, sit fourth in GTLM. Magnussen and Garcia won at The Glen in 2014 and are eager to catch their teammates in the driver’s standings and post some much-needed points for Chevy.
“It is a short turnaround from Le Mans but we have the best team to get our cars ready.” said Garcia “Watkins Glen ranks high on the list of favorite tracks for just about all drivers. It has speed and a lot of heritage. Jan and I were fortunate to win there together before in the Six Hours; we’re hopeful that another will jumpstart our season. Our Corvette has been quick all season in the WeatherTech Championship. We need one complete race with good execution and we’ll be in great position.”
The 2016 Sahlen’s Six Hours of The will go green at 10:10 a.m. ET on Sunday, July 3. FOX Sports 1 will air the race from 10 a.m. ET, while IMSA Radio will provide audio coverage, as always.

hope they have enough sense to sandbag practice so they don’t get another index of performance adjustment
