Chevrolet Pivots Strategy In India, Shuffles Future Vehicle Portfolio

If you want any more evidence of the global economy we live in today, look no further than the automobile industry. Trends seem to transcend continents, evident in Chevrolet’s latest strategy shift in India.

The brand has announced it has taken pubic opinion, stakeholders and general trends into consideration and has shuffled its future product portfolio.

The 2017 Chevrolet Spin MPV is the biggest casualty of the announcement, with the brand stating it will not proceed with the vehicle as intended. Instead, it will focus on the market’s growing want for SUVs and entry-level vehicles.

The brand also stated the Chevrolet Beat Activ has been green lit from concept, and will see a full production vehicle.

“There was an overwhelming response from our Indian stakeholders to the Beat Activ when we revealed it at the Auto Expo in Delhi. As a soft-roader, the vehicle is ready for any adventure or challenge, while its interior ensures the driver remains comfortable and connected,” GM India President and Managing Director Kaher Kazem said.

“These new Chevrolet vehicles clearly demonstrate we are listening to our customers and are being led by their desire for small cars with more content and choice. They were distinctly developed for the Indian market. However, there is no doubt they will have global appeal.”

Chevrolet India stated development has quickened, with all-new vehicles arriving within the next two years.
