If you had plans to make it to Detroit for the 2016 Woodward Dream Cruise, Chevrolet has just sweetened the deal.
Ahead of the Chevrolet Camaro’s 50th birthday (have a look back through six generations of Camaro right here), the brand announced a three day celebration for the storied nameplate.
Beginning on August 18, Chevrolet will host an initial celebration at the Lansing Grand River assembly, the new home of Camaro production. The day will include special tours of the facility to see the Camaro’s production process as well as other festivities. There will be “Camaro parking only” to hold up to 500 vehicles, 50th anniversary merchandise and lead Camaro engineer Al Oppenheiser will be present for day-long discussions.
Day two, August 19, has been dubbed “Camaros and Coffee” in Detroit, Michigan, one day ahead of the 2016 Woodward Dream Cruise. Owners and enthusiasts alike are invited to fill the Joe Louis Arena Riverfront parking lot, at 19 Steve Yzerman Dr., in downtown Detroit.
Space is limited to 500 vehicles on a first come, first served basis. At 9:45 am, 50th Anniversary Chevrolet Camaros will lead the pack of owners down the famed Woodward Avenue.
August 20 will feature a special Camaro heritage display during the 2016 Woodward Dream Cruise, once again presented by Chevrolet.

I drove a 1967 Rally Sport (with the vacuum powered headlight covers) so I am old enough to remember all of it.
