EDM, or electronic dance music, has really become all the rage in the past few years. What once was quite the underground scene, with much of it stemming from England, has come out of the shadows, and into the mainstream.
And a certain kind of person likes this music. They’re trendier, younger and would likely describe themselves as “counter-culture.” But, do they buy Cadillacs?
Likely, no. But, that didn’t stop Cadillac marketing from slipping in a 2016 Cadillac CT6 into the latest Tiësto & Ummet Ozcan music video. The music is trance, and it’s bouncy, un-cey club music like you’d imagine. The 2016 CT6 is seen as the main vehicle as we’re dropped in and out of what looks like mild violence and breaking and entering into a few buildings.
Cadillac is never explicitly mentioned, but the CT6 is often front and center in a more than a few shots. It’s interesting product placement, and the CT6 looks lovely rolling around the city at night, but it remains to be seen how affective something like this is for the brand’s image. Have a look yourself up above.

I am sure all the hipsters will be dipping into their six figure bank accounts to grab a new CT6 after seeing this…lol. If I were on GMs Board I would not only start to seriously question Cadillac managment but upper GM managment as well on this push to give Cadillac this sorta marketing. Even though it was not a Cadillac commercial, why would you put the car in something like this? I could maybe see the ATS but a CT6? And in case anyone from GM reads these I am not a 70 something year old man but a 38 year old that has ACTUALLY bought new Cadillac’s. Again, I hope nothing but the best for Cadillac but I am by far not the only one that sees serious marketing issues here.
With you all the way! Marketing of Cadillac doesn’t have a clue!
Reminds me of “The Transporter” but with gay-ish music
People that are going to buy the CT6 will never even see this video .
If you look at just about any movie in a theater where there is violence , it is usually the top dog that is driving a luxury car . And it is usually a Cadillac , Lincoln or Mercedes . But , if I were to give a music band the option of showcasing my new luxury car ( Cadillac ) i don’t think I would have chosen this type of video .
Product placement is always a good thing.. although a music video from someone not very people will see won’t do much; get the Cadillac CT6 in a program like Empire on FOX might be a different story.
this is a plus for caddy. if someone comes to Cadillac and asks to use their newest and nicest sedan for their music video they would be stupid to decline. its almost free advertising. whether 10 people seek interests in the car or a 1000 its positive. if you look on youtube there are a handful of comments about the car and none of them are bad, they could have used a 7 series or an audi A8. The notion that only “hipsters” are into EDM your wrong, I’ve attended several of these big EDM festivals and they attract all sorts of people. this music video will get a few million views easily, tiesto also has a large European fan base so getting some free advertising to Europeans will be good for a suffering brand. regardless the car looks great.
If you don’t put the idea of Cadillac into a young person’s head as an object of luxury and status, you won’t get into their heads at all.
If the ‘hipsters’ have the money and they’re convinced, they’ll buy a Cadillac. If the ‘hipsters’ don’t have the money but they’re convinced, they’ll buy a Cadillac eventually.
