2016 Cadillac CT6 Caters To Rear Seat Passengers With Greater Connectivity: Feature Spotlight

If you happen to be in the market for a large, luxury sedan, it’s not just about the driver. In fact, it’s more so about the creature comforts found for passengers. After all, you may not even be the one driving it.

The 2016 Cadillac CT6 provides for its passengers, especially within the realm of rear seat entertainment. The optional rear seat infotainment system, which is standard on the Platinum trim, provides a suite of connectivity features to keep things entertaining.

HDMI and USB ports are located on the front of the rear center seat, providing the ability to use Google Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV or whichever streaming service you prefer most. Or, the ports can be used to mirror content directly. Of course, this is all done with the 2016 CT6’s 4G LTE WiFi capability.

Two independent, articulating 10-inch HD screens arise when the technology is active, but are designed to fold away neatly after use, retracting into the front seat backs. Passengers are also able to play Blu-Rays, select media functions and adjust the massage function.

Maybe it’s not such a bad thing to a be a passenger after all.

  1. The rear of the Platinum CT6 is very nice and luxurious looking but as I have said before I hope Cadillac offers in the future a actual 4 seat sedan like BMW and M-B do. We would be correct to assume the next flagship sedan that will sit above the CT6 will have this seating configuration at least as a option if not standard. It would have a stationery armrest to floor devider giving both rear seat passengers thier own area.

Its hard to be believe but Cadillac did this one time in its history long before the Germans did, and that was on the Fleetwood Talisman option for only 1974 and 75 and this gave that huge sedan 4 seat executive seating.

  2. Only in 1974 did the Talisman option create a four seat configuration. In 1975 and 1976 models, the rear seat divider was deleted, only the front divider remained.

  3. Although not important but an added feature to the rear seat package is extra air vents in the roof above the rear doors where it is not available without the rear seat entertainment package for more comfort.

  4. I hope the rear seat infotainment systems are a stand alone option . With the phones and tablets that everybody has now just how much are these rear seat screens used . Iv’e owned two Escalades with these systems , the first generation SRX had one , and just recently on my older Terrain . The only one that got used was the first Escalade I had back in ’07 .
With my new Terrain you can order optional tablet holders that hook up to the back of the front seats headrests . The kids can take their tablets with them and put them in these holders and play games or watch movies if they want . With or without the 4G Wifi in the truck .
I think GM could save a boat load of money by offering the integrated screens as a stand alone option .
I do think Cadillac is right to focus on heated and cooled rear seats that can recline or massage . And the rear seat screens for the windows both sides and the rear .
In China they will be ushered around in the backseats but here in the States not as much . What it does do is give the car a sense of luxury with the attention now focused on an area that seemed to be an after thought for many years .
