Vice President Joe Biden has never hid his love affair with cars. Last year, part of his words of wisdom for a graduating university class included, “Corvettes are better than Porsches.” Fair enough, Mr. Vice President.
Most recently, as reported by Road and Track, VP Biden bet a certain New York Times journalist the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V was quicker to 0-60 than a Tesla Model S. Normally, he’d be a winner winner chicken dinner. However, the P90D exists.
“The Tesla is two-tenths of a second faster. I lost. I paid my $10,” Biden reportedly remarked.
At least the good old U S of A won here. Now, echoing R&T, Cadillac may need to pony up to the Vice President’s wishes: build as an even faster CTS-V, please.

Quicker? No.
Faster? Yes.
Maybe he lost the bet, but there is a extremely large price difference between the two cars for those few tenths of a second!
Build a lighter coupe with a 7 speed manual and you may get me as a customer.
Do a best out of ten runs, I think the CTS-V will come out on top when the battery discharging & the motor getting hot take the advantage away from the Tesla
CTS-V 0-60 approx. 3.8-4.0 VS 2.8 – 3.0 for the Tesla, it isn’t even close. Past the quarter, the higher speed of the V will kick in.
In town, the Tesla will smoke the V all day long. Even with 5 passengers.
Personally, I think both are excellent to exceptional cars depending on how you look at them. The Tesla P90D’s advantage is from 0-60 while the CTS-V’s advantages are from higher top speed and lap times.
Although the CTS-V is a gas hog, I will take it over the P90D any day of the week.
The Tesla Model S can’t maintain that speed…it’s a sprinter, plus I don’t want my car to drive me, how boring. But that’s what makes having a choice so nice, because as a guy who can appreicate the exterior beauty of the Model S…the interior and huge screen are a major turn off. I’ll take the CTS-V as my choice because I can drive it, hear it rumble and sharpen my own driving skills.
