Vauxhall Announces Fix For Zafira B Models Over Potential Fire Risk

Vauxhall has finally announced its action plan for Zafira B owners. After finding evidence of improper repair of the blower motor resistor and its thermal fuse, Vauxhall has announced a recall to replace components entirely to avoid the risk of fire.

The fire hazard stems from overheating of the system’s electrical components, which were repaired by Vauxhall, not replaced. All work was done with owners’ knowledge through a previous recall initiative.

Now, Vauxhall will bring each Zafira B in to return vehicles back to their previous state, installing a wax fuse resistor so reducing the opportunity for manipulation. When the recalls are complete, all vehicles will have a new wax fuse resistor, a new blower motor and a new moulding at the base of the windscreen to address water ingress.

The new recall will commence this coming August on a staggered basis to ensure each Zafira B is serviced appropriately, and free of charge by Vauxhall. The brand also stated owners who have not had the first recall done should still bring their vehicles in.
