The Corvette team takes the National Corvette Museum Bash pretty seriously, offering guests and attendees a first look at what’s coming for the new model year. This year, things were a little more quiet, with Chevrolet stating full info would be available next week. However, there were some interesting nuggets of information.
Above is the entire presentation, featuring Corvette Product Manager Harlan Charles, and Corvette Exterior Design Manager Kirk Bennion. The focal point this year was obviously the 2017 C7 Corvette Grand Sport, with plenty of time spent on the Corvette variant. Rightfully so.
We learned the C7 Grand Sport will match a C6 ZR1 around Virginia International Raceway, and new colors are forthcoming for America’s homegrown world beater. Check out the presentation yourself and digest everything 2017 C7 Corvette.

WHY is there NO addressing of a concern ‘every’ C7 owner I’ve talked with has; and it’s a detriment to ordering a 2017: there has been plenty of time to incorporate ‘front and rear proximity sensors’ at least, at a software-interpolated 360 camera system (such as many others including Cadillac and Chevy Malibu) employ, to eliminate the dangerous visibility issue. Even better; why not the panoramic rear-view mirror based on rear cameras.
There is no excuse for the 4th year of the C7 not to have lane-change warnings incorporated in the side mirrors either.
Finally; why not clarify whether wireless CarPlay will be offered for the 2017 model, as well as improving the touchscreen, which is quite mediocre compared to others. The idea that it can be ‘too good’ stated to a Wall Street Journal writer is just disingenuous; since Cadillac and even Malibu have better capacitive (or similar) touch-screens.
By the way I love my 2014 C7; my point is related to safety and the absence of modern options such as noted; which would keep the leading-edge technology of the 2014 (at the time); up to date. The visibility issue resolution is far more important than new plastic trim packages. Include the safety improvements and I’ll gladly order a new Grand Sport model.
Thank you (and please reply as to why you haven’t provided sensors and proper blind-spot solutions).

Any indication of the new ZR1 or Zora?
