Say It Again: Opel Once Again Reiterates It Does Not Use Defeat Devices To Pass Emissions Testing

Opel does not use defeat devices to pass emissions tests. See those 10 words? Opel wants you to study them, and learn them. The brand has released yet another official statement following reports of “defeat devices” in select vehicles from a handful of sources.

Opel has complied with the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) with extensive data in the fall of last year to support the comprehensive analysis of the German authorities, and has been cleared by German, French and UK officials that no such device is present in Opel and Vauxhall vehicles.

Opel also made it clear it has taken steps to be proactive about emissions, sharing additional data of its procedures with authorities, and actively engaging in the creation of RDE (Real Driving Emissions) testing. Furthermore, the brand remains committed to earn the trust of consumers by taking preliminary steps to further reduce NOx and CO2 emissions through this coming summer.
