Imagine a utopia for car enthusiasts; a home where you slept in a loft atop your climate-controlled garage. Better yet, it’s right down the road from a test-track. Sounds awesome, right? It’s called the M1 Concourse, and it opens this upcoming June with the grand opening planned on August 14.
Incase you hadn’t heard about this wonderful auto-haven, the M1 Concourse is an 87-acre lot with 264 private garages (or “car condos”) available for sale. Well, actually, there are only 139 car condos available, as 135 units have already sold – and the construction of them is far from finished. Eventually a total of 338 of these structures will be built.
These car homes are not solely what makes the planned M1 Concourse exciting. There will be a test track located about a mile from these garages, along with an exhibition area and a 7,000-square-foot clubhouse. The track will be ready for action with guard rails and tire walls along with on-site medics.
Brad Oleshansky, CEO of M1 Concourse, asked reporters, “What better use of turning an old auto factory into an auto enthusiasts’ destination right on Woodward?” Oleshanksy said that visitors can expect to see “car shows, events, swap meets, auctions, trade shows, drive in movies, food truck rallies and all kinds of things.”
We really couldn’t imagine a better outcome for the old GM plant in Pontiac, MI.

Are you allowed to work on your cars while it’s being housed there?
Hey there Scott, from my understanding, yes, you will be able to store equipment and work on your vehicles. I can’t say I know this for sure, but I’d be very surprised if it wasn’t so. I’ll try and find a concrete answer for you.

I can. It can be a GM plant for new plug-in hybrid vehicles.
that’d be interesting, seeing how the plant has been torn down for years.
not to be picky, but the pic is the wrong assembly plant. that’s the one that was on opdyke. having worked in all three of them.
Drat – good catch sir.
