Oh, Look, The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox Was Also Spied Again

As we stated earlier this morning, GM has given spy photographers a field day. The 2018 GMC Terrain, 2018 Chevrolet Traverse and more have all been spotted recently out and about quite frequently. And, guess what, the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox has been spied once again, too.

This makes for more than a handful of 2018 Equinox sightings as of recent, and the incoming compact crossover is shaping up well it seems. CarScoops grabbed the photos, and it’s evident a more stylish profile will replace the more mundane looking CUV.

It’s certainly smaller, too, making room for an all-new, midsize crossover to fill the gap in Chevrolet’s U.S. lineup eventually. We wish we could comment on design, but alas, the camouflage people are doing their job well. It looks as if the signature, Chevrolet split grille is toned down here, however. We’d point to the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze and Malibu as indicators as to what we could see from one of Chevrolet’s most popular models.

The current Equinox has been a roaring success, and with the market moving to more crossovers than ever, you bet Chevy is itching to release its latest.

  2. GM has taken way too long to bring this next Gen Equinox to market. As someone who works in sales in a GM dealer, we have customers who had a 2010, now have a 2013 or 2014 and WILL NOT be buying a 2017. Why? They are tired of the same vehicle. Sure GM added a few toys and refreshed the nose, but the overall vehicle inside and out is the same. The Traverse is another. 8-9 years of basically the same vehicle with just a nose and dash refresh.

    1. Equinox, although has been around for a while now, has always been a good seller and aged very well thus allowing GM to push it’s redesign out a few years. It let them focus on other products more and there is not denying that what ever is coming out of GM’s camp lately has been a top notch product. I would hate to see new Equinox rushed to the market only to disappoint all of us. Customers who bought ’10s and than ’13s or ’14s will come back to buy another one. There was a reason they came back once, they will come back again. New model will be out next year right in time for them to upgrade again.
We have ’11 model and we love it. Wonderful vehicle for my wife and kid. I would definitely buy another one in a heart beat. 2018, although smaller, will be even better I bet. If size will be an issue than the new model between it and the Traverse will definitely check all boxes.

    2. GM still can’t build enough!!! And that’s without really spending a lot on marketing it. The advantages in rear seat room with the sliding seat impresses a lot of people. I steer lots of people towards the Equinox and Terrain if they have bigger kids. Many of the teenagers these days seem to be bigger than their parents and it’s one of the GM vehicles with great back seat room. Our new sedans (ATS, Cruze, etc.) dont’ have enough rear seat headroom especially.

  3. Well here is the deal.

GM like most other MFG’s can not revamp all models and lines at the same time. At GM coming out of the bankruptcy they had models that needed attention imediately like the Nox and Torrent. They got the new models and have only increased in sales every year since.

Now GM had planned to bring them out about 2 years ago but found they needed to address other models that were not increasing in sales like the Bu, Regal, Lacrosse and more I could name.

While it would have been nice to have the new SUV models a year or two ago they were the ones that needed the least help in the line up. Priorities were shifted to the higher volume models like the Cruze and Malibu that did need help sooner.

But with that said the new models are not far out with the many leaks were getting teased with right now so you will get these soon.

  4. Some of the talking heads suggest the new Equinox will be similar to Buick’s Envision; although, the engines might be similar to the Malibu which means a base 1.5L DOHC-4v 4-cyl turbo making 160 horsepower with a top tier 250 hp LTG 2.0L DOHC-4v 4-cyl turbo as the emphasis will be mileage and not performance because no one buys a CUV thinks they’re getting a cruise missile or really planing to conquer the great outdoors.

    1. With the weight loss and size reduction the performance will be as good or better than today’s models.

The key will be the interiors will be packages much better so little will be lost inside.

  5. If GM is not offering a Equinox Hybrid in ”18” they may as well shut the door on the Equinox & Terrian. The promise of the ”14” E-Assist has long passed. Please get with the tech !
