Howie Long Gets Acquainted With The 2016 Chevrolet Silverado: Video

With a stylish and distinctive updated look, Chevrolet is calling the 2016 Silverado “the new face of strong.” In this ad break you’ll see Howie Long get acquainted with the new Silverado 1500, and he’s joined by Chief Engineer Eric Stanczak, there as his guide.

First, the gents discuss the handsome front end of the refreshed 2016 Silverado, particularly the ultra-modern, LED-accented headlights, hood design, and the fact that it’s the first full-sized pickup to offer tri-beam LED fog lamps. Stanczak also shows Long the super-cool articulated running boards option, which extend out as the door is pulled open. Also mentioned are the eight-speed automatic transmission, and OnStar 4G LTE-powered Wi-Fi.

  1. Please Chevrolet. Enough of Howie Long already!

    1. One couldn’t thumbs up that enough… I’m sure he’s a good guy but he adds exactly Zero credibility to Chevrolet trucks.

And why can’t Chevy do commercials like they used to? Go back and look at the Task Force Chevrolet truck commercials of the 1950’s, or the commercials from the 67-72 era, or the classic Like A Rock commercials of the 90’s. They showed engineering, durability and strength with specifics. Chevy needs to step up their marketing. GMC’s for whatever reason is good still but Chevrolet’s isn’t. Here they’ve been running that new commercial daily with 3 guys and power vs hand saws. Just ridiculous.

      1. You are right on the money! Let’s talk about the product and how it compares head to head with the competition. No more Howie or hokey bear commercials please!

      2. Like A Rock commercials were the best. I still play some of the commercials in my head!

    2. He sells vehicles.

      Deal with it.

  2. I really like the Howie commercials. And I’m not a football guy either.

  3. Does it have rear A/C vents yet? The competition does!
Otherwise it’s a solid enough truck no doubt! But for my money if I was buying a full size truck today I’d go Ford. And I drive a Silverado LTZ crew cab 4×4 “company truck”.

    1. Well here in Canada a $62,000 Lariat still has plain halogen headlamps versus GM’s HID’s ad LED’s. I would rather have better headlamps than rear AC vents as I have never had anyone complain about being too hot in the back of my Silverado. The same Lariat has no rear fender liners either, nor any wifi capability. But to each there own.

      1. My thought is that at prices north of $50,000 they should all have features such as HID lights and rear A/C vents.
I live in a warmer climate than Canada and have had people cold in front while others are warm in the rear.
Again, these trucks should have these features.

      2. Also, I’m sure aftermarket HID lights are a far easier fix than adding rear A/C
But shouldn’t the customers (us) get both…and then some for the prices of these trucks today?

        1. Hey buddy I live in Canada, and I’m with you on rear AC I have kids that get hot in the back. And I swear wheel liners are an option. I’d have to look again. Both nice trucks, but the F-150 gets my vote now, not by much tho. I see both in my trade and they both carry payload better than any Dodge I’ve seen. But man the ram is a nice ride. I can’t say any of them are bad. Also I have a phone with plenty of data. I won’t need another bill. Cool idea I guess but I’ll pass.

  4. This is worse than the lame power tool commercial with the half tons. Not very good use of my tax money, GM.

  5. I thought this was a great commercial and provided several selling points. I like Chevy using Howie Long!

  6. I seem to remember a Howie Long series a few years ago when he dismissed articulated running boards and heated steering wheels as somewhat unmanly. And now he’s fascinated by creature comforts and eye candy.

I’d guess he’s still under a lengthy contract and they figured they’d better use him.

So find new roads, but we’d better use this old road, too, as long as we’re still paying for it … This is what happens when you don’t have a CMO, and the brands are left to their own judgement.

  7. Love Howie Long and he has helped sell a ton of trucks for GM.

Probably the people complaining dont even own a truck or even intend to buy one.

Continuing to use Howie Long proves he is making money for GM.

    1. Well, maybe. He was pretty prominent in 08, 09, and I don’t think sales were all that awesome. And he was dismissive of certain features.

But if he does it for you, that’s awesome.

  8. I am surprised at the end they don’t say buy now and we will throw in a second for free with only additional shipping and handing.

Howie is fine for voice over during a new commercial but leave him at that unseen and unactiing.
